My cat purrs and growls simultaneously while rubbing. Is she happy?

You are probably confusing him as this would not be the normal noises humans make. He may also mistake that noise for growling, so may perceive it as a threat. So I would not "purr" at him as you never know and he may jump into your face some day thinking you are threatening him.

This is perfectly normal. Some cats have a tiny quiet purr, others a very loud purr, and others again actually open their mouth a little to purr loudly. The louder your kitty purrs the happier it is. Hairballs usually cause a cough. Sounds like you have a very happy kitty.

If Louis is making this sound only when resting, it could be that he is purring because he's happy and relaxed. I'd be more concerned about it if he was making this sound all the time, and in that case, I'd recommend a vet visit. I hope this helps!

Cats purr when they are happy. They can also purr when they are stressed out or sick as a way to make themselves feel better. Your kitty is probably purring because she is happy! I would start with teaching Luna that hugging is not OK. She can't help it that her claws come out during this action. She is also not trying to be affectionate, so not really hugging. She is trying to hold your sister as a way to play. Start by tapping her on the head and removing her from the leg. If she continues to try to do that, you can use a water bottle to squirt her with water when she grabs someones leg.

Cats tend to get polyps at the back of the throat that can cause a change in meowing and purring and result in some nasal discharge or sneezing. The biting of the brush can indicate that she is itchy, cats will lick or bite themselves when an itchy area is scratched or brushed. Some will salivate. Another possibility is that she is biting it because she is getting annoyed. Cats can still be purring but show annoyance by turning their ears, flicking their tail or lightly biting a brush or your hand/arm/fingers. I would stop brushing her when she starts biting the brush or only do it in short intervals so you do not irritate her too much. I wish you the best!
