Is it normal for my cat to never purr, even if she makes other sounds?

If Chloe was feral or not handled much as a kitten, it could be that she just doesn't really know how to purr or interact. Giving her time and letting her approach you on her terms for pets, cuddles, etc can help ensure she feels comfortable and continues to warm up to you. It may also be that she shows her love in other ways-- which is perfectly fine-- such as playing with you, laying near you, asking for pets, or even blinking lazily at you (a cat smile!).

My cat and I have heard other cats sound different in these loving situations. If he is not sneezing, doesn't have nasal discharge and isn't wheezing any other time I wouldn't worry! Great question! Each cat has a different purr, just like humans have different voices, so as long as he is eating and drinking normally, using the litter box normally, and is behaving normally, then it is not an issue for his health :-)

Yes, it may take a day or two for her to relax. I recommend confining her to a room or two that is quiet with her food water and litter. Leave her alone overnight so she can have privacy and minimal stress. Giving some wet food may encourage her to eat. You can spend some time in her place several times during the day but I’d keep her in there until she’s eating and using the litter box. Then you can gradually introduce her to the rest of the house and people. Be patient and she should settle in soon. Kittens can purr for different reasons, usually when they are happy and content but sometimes they do it when they are angry or uncomfortable. Some cats purr more than others so I would not be concerned that your cat is more of a silent type unless you have noticed other behavior changes as well. If the hairloss is just normal shedding then this can be completely normal. Daily brushing can help decrease the amount of shedding around the house. If however he has spots of hairloss where the hair has completely fallen out it could indicated a skin infection or allergies. If Leo does have bald spots then I would recommend taking him to the vet to be checked out.

This is perfectly normal. Some cats have a tiny quiet purr, others a very loud purr, and others again actually open their mouth a little to purr loudly. The louder your kitty purrs the happier it is. Hairballs usually cause a cough. Sounds like you have a very happy kitty.
