Why does my dog purr and avoid eye contact when I approach him?

Boomer is still very young and it may be that he isn't feeling very confident yet. You may want to encourage bonding by always offering him a treat or favorite toy when you come near him. He'll quickly learn that you offer good things! If you're working on potty training or other obedience training, make sure to stick to positive reinforcement as yelling or punishing Boomer only hurts your bond and will make him more fearful of you. Once he is old enough, a puppy kindergarten class together is best to help the two of you bond, learn to interact well with each other and encourage good behaviors.

I would associate treats with being pet on the head so that he enjoys it rather than fears it. I hope this helps!

How lovely of you to rescue Bard! He's lucky to have you. He's likely just adjusting to being in a new home, and continue to show him lots of love, affection, and attention. Eventually he should be happier.

I would encourage you to speak softly to her and try to avoid sudden movements when interacting with her. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! They are probably communicating with each other. This does not mean that they do not like each other necessarily. This is just their interaction which is ok. Not every dog is playful with other dogs. My dogs for example get along fine and play with other dogs but do not play with each other. It is not a concerning thing. It is just their type of interaction and how they interact with each other which I just have to sit back and respect. In summary, I would not be concerned about this.
