Premature kitten died. Surviving one has bloody anus. What to do?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 8.5 lbs

My Cat simba Gives Birth to 2 kittens 3 days ago. BUT Before 2 hours from now i found 1 kitten died. The kittens get enough feeding. So what should cause kitten died. I found Some Blood At kittens anus( as shown in picture) i also found same thing in liveing kitten. So what should i do for my liveing kitten? I am Town the tempreature is around 35° C average and i also think that kittens are pre-mature in delivers. So what should i do for my Liveing kitten?????

Hello. If the kittens were premature, then you have to wonder why. Perhaps Simba has some underlying condition or disease that caused the early delivery. I do not think the temperature is to blame, but you can try cooling Simba & her kitten down by indirectly placing a fan near her. Having the fan blow over a couple of frozen pop bottles will also cool things down a bit. But there is really very little you or I could do to save such a tiny kitten. If you decide to let Simba have another litter, make sure she is free of diseases like leukemia & feline immunodeficiency virus, that she is up to date on all appropriate vaccinations, & wormed for the common intestinal parasites in your area. If he wasn't weaned and is now eating a kitten food, that could be causing the bloody diarrhea. I agree, it does look like his anus is protruding a bit. Given that he's eating and drinking and otherwise acting normally, it's fine to wait until the morning to wait to take him into a vet. He should see one first thing in the morning to get treated. Tonight, keep feeding him and giving him water, and keep him warm and comfortable. I hope this helps!

My kittens died with bloody stool. How to prevent illness in others?

The may have died from an infection and dehydration since they had constant bloody liquid stools. Those kittens may have had weaker immune systems than the rest. Without actually doing some testing, it is impossible to know for sure. The best way to prevent the other kittens from catching what they had would be to disinfect everything, deworm the other kittens, and make sure they are vaccinated properly. If they start showing any signs of illness than they should be examined by a vet right away. Hope the rest of the kittens stay healthy!

My cat's month-old kittens are dying. How can I help them survive?

This is very unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear your momma cat has lost her kittens. I would suspect that there was something affecting the mother that infected the kittens in utero. There is probably not much you can do to save the 2 remaining kittens at this point. You may want to consider taking them to the vet to be checked out and see if it is something treatable. At home just continue doing your best by supplementing their feedings if necessary, stimulating them to potty if the momma is not, and keep them warm and dry. I hope this helps. Injured newborn kitten bleeding and still. Is he dying? What can I do?

There is not much you can do medically. Please keep him with the mother to stay warm and see if he is able to nurse. Kittens that get cold and don't nurse get weak quickly and can die. Kitten has light pink blood from anus. Is it an emergency or can I wait?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Apollo. I definitely recommend having him seen. If he is eating, acting normal, not vomiting and does not have more bleeding, then he can be seen Monday. Otherwise, he will need to see an emergency veterinarian this weekend. The bleeding can be the result of intestinal parasites, an anal gland problem, a wound near his anus or having passed a firm dry bowel movement. You should check his litterbox for any diarrhea or hard stool. I hope this information helps!

After losing kittens to illness, how do I keep my new one healthy?

It would be helpful to know the age of kittens when you got them and how soon they developed symptoms as this would help determine whether they had it before you got them or were exposed afterwards, by other cats or possibly common food bowls, litter trays etc. I would recommend getting an older cat/kitten that has been fully vaccinated at least 3weeks before you take it next time and sterilise or replace all bedding, bowls etc

Why did my newborn kittens die suddenly? Caring for the mother cat.

I'm so sorry for the loss of the kittens. They may have had a parasite infection or virus such as panleukopenia. Salmonella can also kill them quickly. Without a post mortem exam there is no way to know what they dried from. Mom will probably go back into heat fairly quickly so you might want to get her spayed. Monitor her mammary glands that they don't get engorged or painful. You can apply cool compresses to them if she will let you.
