What are the best high-quality dog supplements to add to food?
I am not familiar with Dr. Jeff's products. So sorry. I'm not really sure what you are looking for in a supplement? An immune system booster? Just a vitamin? Probiotics? Skin/Coat health? Joint health? It has been around for a long time. Excellent company and product with no previous issues. Cost effective. Very palatable so dogs like it. My dog has joint issues & licks paws. What chewy supplement helps?
Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! I would put her on a Glucosamine AND Omega 3 fish oils. I like Dasquinn treats and for fish oils I prefer VRS Omega Benefits but it is a liquid. Otherwise try Nordic naturals. What supplements are best for my healthy senior dog's aging?
Hello. Thank you for using PetCoach. Peanut is very handsome! The most common thing that happens as large breed dogs age is arthritis so I would just put him on a good all around supplement that contains joint supplements in it. I love this supplement by Missing Link. http://www.allivet.com/p-1647-missing-link-vet-canine-plus.aspx Some signs he may have arthritis are: * having a hard time getting up from a down position * not jumping up on the couch, bed, etc like he normally does (if he does that) * slowing down on walks (like he doesn't seem like he can go as far as he used to) Even if he is not showing signs of arthritis I would put him on a joint supplement. The other thing I would recommend is yearly blood testing with your vet to check his organ function. Declining organ function is not something you can see from the outside just by looking at your dog. Usually by the time you do see something abnormal it is often too late to do anything about it. It is better to test yearly so you can catch things early. Peanut looks to be in great shape! You are doing a great job! Hope this answers your questions. Please post again if you have more question. Can I give my picky puppy Tomlyn Nutri and salmon oil for shedding?
Hi and thanks for your post this afternoon. The Tomlyn Nutri Supplement is okay, but the salmon oil with the added D3 and Potassium vitamins can be toxic to dogs. Unless your veterinarian has specifically told you to give the D3 and Potassium Supplement, I would advise against it. Regular Salmon Oil without the added D3 and Potassium (just regular plain Salmon or Fish Oil) would be better then the added extra D3 and Potassium. It is okay to give Salmon Oil (or other Fish Oil) with the Tomyln Nutri, just avoid the D3 and Potassium. I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
