Choosing flea, tick, heartworm meds: Revolution, Advantix, Heartgard?
Congratulations on your new dog! I like Revolution if you are looking for a topical product. It consistently works well and is well tolerated. If you like the idea of an oral product better, I like Trifexis (it’s another all in one product). Sometimes though the pets can smell the Trifexis and they won’t eat it. In that instance, I like Simparica and Interceptor. My personal preference is oral products. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Revelution for cats ( has to be made for cats!) and simparica for dog. In addition, at the same time you are treating the pets, you should get the environment professionally treated or trhe fleas will continue to cause problems.

What's the best monthly topical flea & parasite prevention for cats?
Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! For cats, I would recommend Revolution which a topical solution applied once monthly. It helps prevents fleas and intestinal parasites in cats. It is easy to use and very effective in cats. This is a prescription medication your can obtain through Jax's veterinarian. Simparica Trio is a similar medication that treats fleas, ticks, heartworms, roundworms, and hookworms. It's a chewable tablet rather than a topical, but is easy to give and can help bridge the gap until you're back on your regular medication. It is best to confirm it is safe to give with your vet if Mia has any other underlying health conditions or issues, and your vet can order it or provide a prescription to an online service such as Chewy.

Is Revolution right for my senior poodle's heartworm and flea needs?
Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Revolution is excellent. That is actually what I use for my own dogs. Heartworm prevention is indeed needed in all stages and I would highly recommend heartworm prevention which is included in the revolution. However, it is important to make sure that Maggie does not have heartworms before you start it so I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for a heartworm test first if she was not on heartworm prevention previously.
