My dog has allergies & bad teeth. What food & products are best?
Nikki is adorable! Thank you so much for posting pictures. You posted about a number of concerns, so hopefully I can address all of them. As far as her teeth go, it is always recommended to have a full dental cleaning under anesthesia to resolve any underlying problems and pain, then follow up with something like a water additive to decrease additional dental calculus from forming. My favorite dental product is PetSmile, but it does need to be applied to the teeth. https://petsmileusa.com There has been a lot of evidence that increasing the amount of Omega 3 fatty acids in the diet can make a big difference for inflammation and itching. Since a diet change and adding Omega 3 fatty acids to the diet can both cause loose stool, I normally only recommend that clients make one change to a diet at a time (which includes supplements). Both Acana and Wellness make a wonderful fish based diet, so I do not have a preference between the 2 of those. Make sure you do a gradual diet change over a period of days to prevent any GI upset and loose stools. Then, if you still need to add in an Omega 3 fatty acid supplement, you could add something like Nordic Naturals. https://www.nordicnaturals.com/petRet/ Good luck! Is there an all-in-one heartworm, flea, and tick medicine for dogs?
Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There is not an "All In One" option yet. There are products that are close but fail with the most important ticks, the deer tick that carries Lyme. What you are doing with the 2 products is the best. I am still hopeful one day we will have a product that get them all. Have a good day!

Can I buy K9 Advantix for my small dog at Petco for flea prevention?
I'm not sure if they do or not - in the United States, it's available at most pet stores and even some large, "general" type stores like Walmart. I would suggest calling or visiting your nearest pet store and/or any large grocery stores in your area to see if they have it :)

Adopting a shelter dog? How to care for and introduce your new pet.
Adopting a new dog is so much fun! Whenever bringing a new dog into the home, it should be done slowly with the existing animals already there to make the transition smoothly. The new dog should be kept separated from the other animals when home alone to avoid any problems, and their interactions should be monitored when you are home so you can separate them at any problem. I'm not sure if you have any additional animals in the home, but if you have cats for example, it's normal they will hiss at the dog. Do not allow them to swipe at the dog, separating them right away if you notice the cat getting upset. Also do not allow the dog to chase the cats. If you don't have any other animals in your home, then just be patient with the dog as it acclimates to his new house. Moving into a new home can be stressful, and some dogs may not eat or drink at first. This will pass in time. Shelter dogs should be taken care of just like any other dog: Fed twice a day, make sure they are up to date on their vaccines, flea and deworming treatments, and feed them a high quality dog food :-)
