How to train a ferret to wear a harness when he refuses treats?
Sorry you are having this issue with Eddie. My two suggestions would be to make sure you have the right type of harness and try a different type of treat that he REALLY likes that will distract him for at least 30 seconds. Harness suggestion: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6067+11281+17391&pcatid=17391 As you can see, it does not go between the front legs. That may be the issue you are having. It is OK but it is not the best. I prefer Zupreem or Marshalls and they are about the same price for the same weight bag of food. It is better to spend money on higher quality food and less money on treats and toys and other accessories. Why is my ferret sick, not eating, and vet treatments aren't helping?
Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be due to conditions such as pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. I suggest other diagnostics are performed at this point such as abdominal ultrasound and labwork. It is crucial to find out exactly what is going on so that therapy can be used based on the specific condition. In the meantime, they may be able to prescribe anti-nausea medications as that may be why she is not eating well. Best of luck!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The Science diet sensitive skin and stomach is quite good. I really like all the Nylabone products. I find that dogs really like them and they are fairly inexpensive. They also seem to help with cleaning the teeth a bit. Have a good day!

My ferret runs from me and hates being held. Is he afraid or playing?
Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ferrets typically do not enjoy being held, and do enjoy playing with their owners more. If you have only had Eddie for a short while, he may not be very used to you, or people in general. I recommend moving slowly with him, and offering treats when he approaches you. Ferrets tend to "remember" negative experiences, so it is important to be as gentle with him as possible early on.
