Can a breastfeeding dog with skin allergies safely take cyclosporine?
Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Cyclosporine IS distributed in the milk and there have been no studies proving it's safety for nursing puppies. The drug is not recommended that women nurse their babies while on it. I would call your Vet to discuss an alternative. I wish you the best!

How do I prepare my sick small dog's vet-prescribed medicine?
Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Unfortunately you didn't provide your dogs weight so we can not give you doses. I recommend calling your Vet when they re-open. In the US it is not legal to prescribe medications with out a label and the medications not reconstituted (made in to a liquid from the powder form). Are you in the US? Also in the US we do not prescribe Acetominophen ( https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/tylenol/ ). I recommend calling your Vet regarding that medication as we can't recommend giving it to dogs. I am sorry but if you want to re-post with Ringa's weight we can probably help with the Amoxicillin).

Does Petco provide pet prescriptions, or is it just for advice?
Unfortunately, we cannot (legally and ethically) advise medication without having an established patient-doctor relationship. It is also dangerous for us to advise medication without examining the animal and fully understanding their condition and medical history. The only place to get a prescription is through a veterinary clinic. However, some vets may be comfortable writing prescriptions for well-established clients that they trust know the conditions they are treating for. This service is strictly for advice only. My dog's Optimmune is costly. Can I use a cheaper human ointment?
Cyclosporine (Optimmmune) is a very expensive medicine in general. I am afraid there is no cheaper alternative as far as I know. However I found prices on the Internet from 29.95 to over 50$ per tube. So you may want to search for cheaper sources on the net and get a prescription from your veterinarian.
