Is my dog's dental Clindamycin dose safe? When to give probiotics?
Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can give the probiotic while you are giving the clindamycin. The dose of clindamycin for dental abscesses is: 5.5-33mg/kg by mouth every 12 hours. He is receiving 25mg/kg, I hope this helps!

Can I get clindamycin for my dog's mouth infection without a vet?
In America you need a prescription for clindamycin. I recommend you have your veterinarian give Tink a prescription for pulsed antibiotics. For dogs with dental disease I recommend giving antibiotics for one week every month on a regular basis. That will help control the plaque and periodontal disease. Is 600mg Clindamycin too much for my 80lb dog? What about side effects?
Poor Sonnie! Nearly any antibiotic can cause vomiting and diarrhea as a side effect, so I would not become overly concerned about that point. If Sonnie does develop this, call his vet and offer a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days to allow his stomach to settle. As for the dosage, clindamycin has a wide dose range when treating abscesses. Sonnie is currently receiving 16 mg/kg, and this range can go up to 33mg/kg. Continue following the prescribed directions and call his vet if anything changes for him. I hope that all goes well!

Is clindamycin the right medicine for my dog's pachydermatis?
Hello there and thank you for your post! Packy dermatitis is typically associated with malassezia. This is typically a fungal infection for which clindamycin will not treat. Clindamycin is generally great for bone and dental infections. We typically use clindamycin to treat what we call anaerobic infections due to bacteria not fungus. The majority (80-90%) of clindamycin is broken down by the liver and excreted as inactive molecules. There are a number of supplemental products which can be used to support the kidneys such as pronefra and omega fatty acids as well as diet modification to reduce the workload the kidneys have to do but these are not recommended unless kidney injury or failure has been diagnosed
