Moving fish long distance: How to transport and feed them safely?
Thanks for reaching out. If is a good idea to fast for 1-2 days prior to shipment, this decreased feces and will help to keep the ammonia down. Typically clear bags are utilized with about 50% water, and 50% air/oxygen used. A local pet store might be able to assist, as they get shipment in (so have older bags and boxes, which need to be disinfected) and hopefully the skills to ship. Check with the airline also, box needs to be well labelled "LIE ANIMALS" and "THIS END UP". Sometimes a health certificate for interstate travel is needed, so contact airline and State of Utah, veterinarian. Good luck.

It sounds like you need to take a trip to your local pet store. The clerks there can help you pick out an appropriately size tank with proper filtration and heating that can help keep Sushi healthy. They can also let you know what water treatments you'll need for the water in your area, as well as test any water you bring it to see if it is OK for Sushi to live in. Pet stores will also carry commercial goldfish food which is a balanced diet that is given to them. It should have feeding instructions on it so you know how much is appropriate to give to Sushi.

My goldfish has Popeye. What medicine should I use to treat it?
Popeye is a symptom of an underlying disorder in the tank. It can be a result of trauma or infection. Most cases can be managed by maintaining water quality and a broad spectrum antibiotic. Quarantining as you have done is always a good move. Check the tank for any furniture/décor that may cause injury. Check the water chemistry, filtration and temperature next. Any imbalances can predispose a fish to illness. Partial water changes can be done to improve quality and correct imbalances. Use only aged or conditioned water that is temperature matched to prevent further stress or shock. Maracyn Plus or Kanaplex can be found in the aquarium section of the local Petco or fish store. You can use either, in addition to plain aquarium salt (NOT table salt), to treat. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon of water in a cup of tank water and gently pour it into the tank. Treat for 10-14 days with salt then perform partial water changes to decrease salinity. Treat only the amount of water going back into the tank with salt to avoid overdosing.

Why are my new angelfish not eating, bumping tank, and eye black?
The fish pictured are incompatible in the same tank. Angelfish (black ones) are tropical fish and do best in temps between 73 F and 84 F. Goldfish (white and orange) are cold water fish thriving in temps between 65 F and 72 F. It also appears as if one of your angels has some damage to a tail fin. This is typically due to fin nipping by other fish. You will need to remove either the angels or the goldfish and place them in a different tank. Check the water chemistry for elevated levels of ammonia or nitrites. This can occur in an uncycled tank or a tank that is overstocked. Partial water changes (30-50%) daily can decrease toxin levels. Use only aged or conditioned water that is temperature matched to prevent stress or shock. Confirm your filter is rated for at least twice the water volume of the tank, especially for the goldfish.
