Over the 2 years we've had this, 3 plastic clips/latches have broken during regular reasonable use. Luckily none have affected the security of keeping our snake, but poor quality

I got this tank yesterday and there is a crack in the back left corner. I didnt drop it and it had the cardboard on it so I dont know why theres a crack in it also the latches dont work good it stays close but its hard to open.

General design is nice and doors open well as long as tank is 100 percent level. Arrived with small crack in tank floor because lid clips were banging around loose inside. Definitely remove these immediately after purchase! Wire where it connects on top is flimsy at best. Purchased metal screen cover to hold lights that doesn’t touch tanks screens at all and yet screens are still sagging down a bit.

I am beyond sad.. I have wanted this habitat for YEARS since I got my leopard gecko. I couldn’t ever afford it. I finally scavenged up enough money to get one and I was so so excited. Within the first hour of setting it up it broke in 2 spots. I now have to be extremely careful when opening and closing one door and the other won’t lock unless I push it hard enough. I have already cried and yelled and I am just so upset.. you would have thought a $250 cage was going to be of decent quality..

I ordered this today and had it delivered… it came with 2 chips in the glass, one on the bottom right hand of the right door and a hole on the top left of the left door. There was shards in the bottom of the tank when I opened it for the first time, and after looking I had only found the small chip on the right side, so I vacuumed the tank and set it up. Then I noticed the big one on the left door. Now I am incredibly nervous that the whole door will shatter. I will have to buy another tank now :(

I bought this product and got it home and noticed the lid was broken. They wanted me to take the whole thing back apart and drive it back to the next city for a replacement instead of just letting me exchange the top. The unit was poorly made and I ended up not keeping it.

I bought this a year ago for my leopard gecko. Definitely a good size and has been very durable. One HUGE thing is to make sure you latch the front doors all the way every time. I thought I fully closed it one night, and turns out it was only partially pushed in (looked closed, but didn't fully latch). My leopard gecko got out and went missing. I'm writing this review because I just found my gecko, alive, a full year later. I still plan to use this enclosure, but thought I would let you all know to double check the front doors always!

Yes the 40 gallon double door tank would do well for a young ball python until it needs a larger tank. To keep the humidity in you can look into the Zoo Med humidity plus silicon cover for one side of the tank.

Will a DHP(deep heat projector) melt the top if sitting directly on the mesh? If so, how high should it be hung or should we get a full metal mesh top?

A DHP can be set directly on the screen top you just want to make sure that you have screen around the edges of the fixture. You do not want to place it to close to the frame of the tank which is plastic and can melt.
