Been using it for 3 years
This thing is not the best, but if you use it right and buy foam white sponge separately in bulk and use it as a filter, it actually works really well. I need to change this thing in 2 weeks -1 month in 10g or 20g tank filled at 1/3. It’s not as bad as others are saying.

Terrible quality and loud.
I have this filter from the turtle starter tank kit and like every other review I’m now seeing it’s doing the same things. It’s been 2 months and it makes the water foamy. Doesn’t seem to keep up with keeping the water very clean for our two tiny baby turtles and has gotten SO LOUD. Very frustrated with this purchase!

There is nothing good about this piece of junk.
Don't buy this, it's a waste of money. My turtle is a baby and this cannot keep up with his tank, he's literally not even the size of a silver dollar.

Don’t buy !!
I bought this probably like a month ago and this product really sucks. I just went with the whole package that had all the starters for the turtle because that’s what the person from the store told me would be best. This doesn’t filter anything on the first two days and the water had a lot of residue. What I am more upset about is that I don’t even know if I can return this garbage because it came in the starters kit. And just like the other reviewers this thing makes a sound simply annoying and a waste of money

Don’t buy - harmful to pets
This filter is total garbage. I wish I had seen the reviews before I purchased it. I had the same issue with the foam the other reviews had. This filter is junk, a waste of money, time in setting up, and worst, it’s harmful to the turtles. I’m done with Zilla and I’m surprised Petco carries such garbage when they have seen so many negative reviews with this product. Luckily it was within the 30 days and I was able to exchange it for another one - a filter that actually filters their water.

A waste of $
I wouldn’t wast my $ on this it’s such a waste. Three days into use and the water started foaming up and it started making a loud buzzing noise. I’m so annoyed.

Bad filter :(
i got this less than a week ago and im returning it. i heard loud clicking noises and i thought my turtle was burrowing himself under rocks, but it was the filter! its so loud and it also makes the water foamy for some reason. im doubting its ability to actually filter the water properly and i am genuinely afraid for the health of my turtle because of this filter. save your money and get a proper filter.

Would this be appropriate for an adult Chinese Water Dragon? Hoping for something that would keep the water clear for swimming between weekly cleanings. The aquatic half of my enclosure will be 18x18x5 in, 7 gal.

We bought this filter and put it in our turtle tank last night, and already the water is murky. Why would this be??
- Depending on what size basking platform you have to gallon tank, as well as what and how often you are feeding the animal will affect the water quality. Also, if there were any decorations added to the tank (i.e. drift wood, dusty gravel, etc.) at the same time, this is a likely reason for the cloudy water. Drift wood tends to turn the water a “tea” color as the natural colors bleed out. Gravel if not rinsed before putting in the tank will cloud the water as well. It is temporary and will go away over time. Give us a call at 888-255-4527 if you'd like to discuss further.

Would be nice to know know the sizes like height, width, recommended tank size and such. For 20 gallons of water could be in any size tank. Why is this information not mentioned ?
