Why is my senior Labrador unable to walk and crying in pain?

I'm sorry to hear Lucky is having some issues. I would be concerned about an injury either to the spine or the the legs. Unfortunately there is not much you can do at home except make him REST. No walks, no running, no stairs and no jumping. This can help the body to heal. I would also recommend to take him to see the veterinarian to have an exam and possibly radiographs. Since he’s still eating this is most likely from pain not an internal organ problem. There is a good chance he over did it and he has arthritis pain. I recommend giving him a gentle massage, and getting him up for several short walks during the day. Once he’s up and moving a little he should feel better. I recommend a neurological exam, medication and the use of a harness so you are able to assist him to stand. Oh no, poor Sky! It sounds like he is in a lot of pain. He may have injured his leg on the stairs somehow. Labs are prone to hip and knee injuries so this could be why he's limping. Unfortunately there are no safe medications you can give at home for pain so Sky really needs to see a veterinarian. If he is crying in pain and not using the leg I really think you should go as soon as possible. A veterinarian can decide if he needs X-rays to make sure he doesn't have a broken bone. They can also dispense safe pain medication to get Sky feeling better. Until you can get to a vet make sure to keep Sky rested so he doesn't injury anything further.
