Moving with a cat: How to introduce her to resident cats and a dog?

Once you arrive at your new home, he should be kept in a room by himself away from the other animals for a week then use a baby gate at the door for the him to see and greet the other cat and dog. You will need to catch her and keep her inside your new place for at least 2-3 weeks and feed her there. This will tell her where she now is being fed and where you now live. There is a good chance then that she probably will become tame enough to see your house as the new home. If she does not like your dog, you need to keep the two separate.

These are pheromone diffusers that help with anxiety and should also help ease the transition. Once all the pets seem relaxed with the current situation, swap rooms placing the cat in the dogs's room and vice versa. You can do this switch several times over the course of the introductions. Once they are all comfortable with the smells of each other, it's time for them to meet face to face. I would introduce the dogs on a leash to the cat while he is in a cat carrier or on the other side of a baby gate. Reward the puppy for being calm and quiet near the cat. Hello. This is a tricky question to answer because you never know how things will go until you try. Some cats absolutely hate other cats, others love company, & others are OK with a newcomer as long as the food dish stays full. I would try introducing them shortly after you move. Give Kofta a few days to a week to get used to the new house first. Then, after she seems comfortable, introduce the new boy under supervision. Often, a kitten is readily accepted after a few swats & hisses. Make sure there are double the resources for the cats at first. 2 litter boxes in separate areas, 2 food & water dishes, & plenty of places to escape & hide ( save those cardboard boxes ). I am always rescuing cats & kittens, & eventually, everyone settles down. Good luck & take care.

The best thing you can do is make sure that each cat has their own private space. You may keep each cat confined to their own room with food, water, and litter box for the first couple of weeks. Once they are used to the new home, you can let one cat out so that they can start to smell each other through the door. After a couple of weeks, you can do supervised time together.
