My cat has hard, yellow, powdery ears and skin lesions. What to do?

These skin lesions look like bacterial or possibly fungal infection. Mites can be responsible for it as well. This can be an bacterial infection from allergies or just from prior conditions before you got her. I would clean the area with soap and water and apply Neosporin to the spots. If they clear and keep recurring I would look into a food allergy and possibly changing her food

Unfortunately, without seeing it in person, I can't say for certain what is causing this rough and bumpy patch beneath Shiki's ear. I can say that if she is scratching below her ear, that can be a sign of an ear infection, and I do think she should see a vet for it. Ear infections in cats can be caused by ear mites, yeast, or bacteria, and can only be treated by medications from the vet. I recommend having Shiki seen by a vet tomorrow to diagnose if she does have an ear infection, and to get medications to treat it if she does. It's important to treat any ear infection promptly, as leaving it untreated can lead to hearing loss.

This could be an infection-bacterial or perhaps fungal. It could also be due to a flea allergy. I would recommend keeping Jorfy on a flea preventative monthly to rule out a flea allergy but also have him see his veterinarian. Your veterinarian may do a skin scraping and/or fungal culture to rule out bacterial infection or a fungal infection. He may need antibiotics, antifungal medications, or other medications as needed. It could be a bacterial/fungal skin infection or an allergic dermatitis. You could clean the area with Mal-A-Ket wipes and see if that helps. Otherwise, have your vet take a look at her to determine the cause and prescribe medications to treat.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria but fungal infections are possible as well). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any). This looks like a possible bacterial or yeast infection now. This can happen secondary to a primary issue such as mites. You will have to take Maggie to your vet to get the ear debris tested again and treated based on what type of infection it is (bacterial or yeast). I hope that Maggie's ear issues resolve soon!
